The Twins powered their way to an 8-3 victory in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Tigers Saturday at Target Field.

Eddie Rosario gave the Twins (25-13) an early lead in the first inning with a single. Max Kepler knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Jeimer Candelario knotted the score in the second inning with a two-run home run for the Tigers (17-20) to right center field.

The Twins were back on the attack in the bottom of the second inning. Byron Buxton got on base with double off starting pitcher Gregory Soto, who was making his major league debut, and later scored on a triple by Mitch Garver. Nelson Cruz sent Garver in with a sacrifice fly.

Brandon Dixon, who replaced a ejected Miguel Cabrera, drove in a run with a single to cut the deficit to 4-3.

C.J. Cron put the game away for the Twins in the fifth inning with a three-run home run to end Soto’s day.

Marwin Gonzalez added a run in the sixth inning with a home run off Nick Ramirez. Ramirez was also making his MLB debut.
